Throughout your dogs life training should be fun for both you and your dog no matter what you are wanting to achieve with your dog, thats why at Hillview our trainer uses a combination of fun, games and play into many aspects of training, not only does this add value into your relationship with your dog but it will give you a tool box of fun activities to turn to that your dog will be eager to do time and time again.

 

Having a positive working relationship with your dog is so important, which is why our trainer is not only Qualified with IMDT in 2018, Pro Dog Trainer Certificated 2018, WSDA Instructor & Judge 2020, but she continues to regularly update her learning via courses, seminars and workshops with various trainers from around the world to make sure we bring you the most up to date information and science within the dog training world.

SCENT WORK & TRACKING

The dogs nose is an incredible part of their anatomy that gives the dog a huge amount of information about the world they live in, yet it is one of the least used activities in pet dog training. Whether you are new to scent or have done a little bit but now want to dive deeper we can help. 

​

During our Scent Work sessions you and your dog will be taught how to introduce a new odour, how to build an indication on that particular scent, how to set up searches, things to consider when setting up your search and much more. The best bit is that any dog no matter their age, size, breed and ability can give Scent Work a try.

​

There are so many benefits to Scent Work, dogs that are on restricted activities whether that is because they are recovering from an injury, very young, or beginning to slow down in their golden years they can really benefit from the mental stimulation that this can bring, making it much easier and less frustrating for all parties during what can be a stressful time. Dogs that are lacking in confidence or find life a little stressful can benefit from the focus and pleasure. Dogs that find it hard to switch off can begin to learn to put their energy into a constructive activity and even become helpful around the house.

Tracking is a fantastic activity for those that are active, and breeds that love to follow their nose. It can be particularly good for dogs that struggle in the outside world without a job to do. This activity can be really beneficial for building a working relationship with your dog as well as giving them the perfect combination of physical and mental stimulation. 

Throughout these sessions you will be taught how to teach your dog to follow a straight track laid on the floor, How to manage your line whilst working your dog, How to progress your tracks on various surfaces, how to set up a track and much more before then taking you out and about to teach your dog harder tracks in the big wide world.
